Welcome to Oklahoma City. This was our first visit to the city as actual tourists. With so many attractions, we kept this visit simple and only explored a few places. This is a city we will have to come back to and explore more.
Route 66 Park: WOW this place was great. It is nestled on the banks of a nearby lake and is easy to get to from OKC. The park is relatively new, has a fantastic series of playgrounds, lots of walking trails, bridges, a pond with all sorts of waterfowl around it, and a really cool reservable picnic shelter. Our kids and dog loved the park. However, even though the new brick picnic shelter has nice flush toilet restrooms, they are locked. Only people who reserve the shelter are given a key. So all the people in the park are forced to use two portable toilets. Once the kids needed to go to the bathroom, it was time to leave. This would be a really nice park if they would open the picnic shelter to the public for restroom use. So if you go to this park, make sure you reserve the picnic shelter or take a restroom break before you go.

Overall Attraction: Worth going to, but stop and let the kids potty somewhere before you get there.
Time Needed: 30 mins. to all day
National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum: This place is nice...real nice. We used our Bank of America free weekend pass to get into this one for free. Well, free for cardholders. We had to pay $12 for a pair of kids' tickets. So keep that in mind Bank of America Card holders when you try to use your debit card for free entry into this attraction. Getting past that issues, the museum is awesome! Lots of galleries for the adults and a really cool interactive building for the kids. The galleries had a lot of cool art and sculptures and did offer crafts for the kids (our kids made paper bowls). The kids building was VERY well done with interactive exhibits, a dress up barn, and campsite that my girls played with for a while, and all sort of taxidermy. The outside grounds were also impressive with lots of fountains and areas for the kids to run around. There is also an indoor western town complete with sheriff's department, bank, stores, train station, livery, and many other structures. There is also a camera and photograph museum inside the town that is pretty cool.
Costs: FREE
PAID ($12 for two kids' admissions)
Overall Attraction: A must-see in OKC
Time Needed: 30 mins. to all day

Pop's Resturant in Arcadia: This is actually a Route 66 roadside attraction as the highway runs through Oklahoma City. This is an awesome resturant. The food, service, and atmosphere are all great. My kids loved the lighted trees in the back of the resturant where the outdoor seating is (They also have awesome inside seating as well.). The resturant serves over 600 diferent types of soda, matter of fact a lot of people just come to buy a 6-pack of soda in glass bottles. This is not only a resturant, and a major Route 66 attraction, but also a gas station and convenience store. If you plan on visiting Pop's, be sure it is at night so that you can get the full effect of the giant lighted soda bottle in front of the resturant.
Costs: FREE to visit
PAID around $40 for the four of us, plus tip—not the cheapest place to eat, but worth it for
the atmosphere and experience.
Overall Attraction: A must-see in OKC and Route 66
