Faith in Travel

(April 2015)

On our explorations its easy to forget who gave us the resources and the ability to explore as a family.  So each trip we try to incorporate a time of faith.  On our most recent adventure to Branson, MO this took a turn that we did not expect.

The forcast was at best tragic, 100% rain and Thunderstorms for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  As the inpending doom of a rained out vacation lerched in the balance, i told the kids that they really needed to start praying for a sunny weekend.  The Thursday before the trip, the forcast was so bad we almost decided to call it quits and cancel our reservation.

So Friday comes with no rain.  We picked up the kids from school early and drove our 3 hours to Branson.  Around 6pm, we checked the weather channel ap on my phone and they had called off the rain chance for the night, but we were going to have to pay for it the next two days.  So we enjoyed our dry evening expecting it to be our last.  Agian we told the girls to pray for no rain before they went to bed.

Saturday morning came, no rain so far.  So we checked the forcast and we saw 100% rain and thunderstorms after 11am continuing ALL DAY.  So we rode all we could in Silver Dollar City before the rains hit.  This time it did rain for the duration of a show at Worldfest.  After we got out the rain tapered off and sure enough it was gone for the rest of the day.  We were treated with a beautiful afternoon with very pleasent weather.  Of course the forcast again said we would pay for it Sunday with thunderstorms and rain all day.

Again we told the kids to pray for no rain Saturday night, leading into Sunday morning.  So we wake up Sunday morning and pack up, go back into Silver Dollar City and try to ride as much as we could before the storms hit.  Finally around 3pm, as we were leaving the park to drive home, the clouds started to form.  As we left Branson we drove north and witnessed the massive storms that were coming our way.  As the interstate turned west towards home we actully drove above the storms that were send to destroy our weekend.

Our kids learned an awesome lesson in that Jesus does hear our prayers, he is always there for us, and there is nothing not even the weather that is not under his control.
